down.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/huesgfx.com\/firedrake\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/firedrake_skeleton.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium is really key in developing a spooky atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the theme I have been playing with in Firdrake VR is to create almost a \u201cjump scare\u201d like horror feel that is currently so\u00a0prevalent in\u00a0VR experience in some of the levels.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I want to create a true sense of dread in the player, as they explore and go through some of the lower \u201csewer\u201d and \u201cdungeon\u201d levels.\u00a0\u00a0 So I have been playing with the lighting level.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So I have been using low lighting, spooky shadows\u00a0and quick turning\u00a0level and architecture geometry to achieve this effect\u00a0so when the monsters show up, the player is already a tad off balance.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here are two screen shots where I was trying to use red ambient lighting to accent the scene.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure I actually captured the feeling I was after.\u00a0 Plus I was using both blue and red lighting (blue point lights with red ambient lighting)\u00a0but it seemed like they were fighting each other\u00a0.\u00a0 So I backed off the red in the bottom screenshot.\u00a0 Not as spooky, but a little more \u201cclean\u201d of an image I think\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lighting the game levels in Fridedrake
